LADARWave™ Wavefront Technology
Now it is possible to measure and treat higher order aberrations that cause glare, shadows, halos and other annoying visual effects.
How LADARWave™ Works
Flat waves of light enter the eye. As waves pass through the entire optical system, imperfections distort the flat light waves. LADARWave captures the distorted waves and compares them to the perfectly flat wave that would have been reflected if your optical system had no distortions.
How LADARWave™ Works
A 3D map is generated representing your unique visual distortions, including both lower and higher order aberrations.

LADARVision® CUSTOMCORNEA® LASIK
Precisely reshapes the cornea to reduce or eliminate both lower and higher order aberrations that can affect the quality of your vision after your procedure.
The LADARVision® System is the only system proven to deliver results better than conventional laser vision correction.
The Excimer Laser
Ultraviolet laser (invisible)
Cool, non-thermal laser beam
No surrounding tissue damage
Precise
The Laser Beam
Flying small spot 2 less than 1 mm wide - creates smooth surface.
LADARTrackerÔ
Laser Radar Tracker
Eye trackers need to be able to sample at a rate of at least 1,000 times per second in order to keep up with involuntary eye movement.

The Goal of CUSTOMCORNEA®
To give you a better result than conventional laser vision correction.
The Goal of CUSTOMCORNEA®
To give you a better result than conventional laser vision correction.
All eyes have both higher and lower order aberrations so every patient has the potential to see better with CUSTOMCORNEA®.
The Goal of CUSTOMCORNEA®
To give you a better result than conventional laser vision correction.
All eyes have both higher and lower order aberrations so every patient has the potential to see better with CUSTOMCORNEA®.
Conventional laser vision correction can produce excellent results, but for many patients CUSTOMCORNEA® delivers even better results.
Are You A Candidate?
A complete eye examination will be performed to determine if you are a suitable candidate and to collect the data required to program the laser.
Are You A Candidate?
Virtually everyone will require reading glasses as they age
Nearsighted people over 40 - 45 who are currently taking their glasses off to read, will probably need reading glasses after laser vision correction.
Are You A Candidate?
Monovision
Laser treatment is adjusted to correct one eye for distance and the other eye for reading
LASIK Complications*
Infection
Extremely rare
Usually successfully treated with antibiotic drops
LASIK Complications*
Flap problems
Irregular, incomplete flap
Procedure may be stopped and the flap replaced
Return after incision heals to continue laser correction
Laser treatment problems
Decentered treatment - minimal risk with   LADARTrackerTM
Irregular astigmatism
Decreased visual acuity
After Laser Treatment
You will sit up and leave the laser suite.
You may be given eye protection to avoid bumping or rubbing your eye.
You will need to have someone drive you home.
You should relax for the rest of the day.
Side Effects*
Overcorrection
Too much correction achieved
Over correction often resolves over time
Over correction more common when treating farsightedness
Side Effects*
Reading vision
People in their mid to late 40’s may notice difficulty reading fine print.
Laser vision correction, when correcting both eyes for distance vision, may make it difficult to see fine detail or read without reading glasses.
What Is Your Next Step?
Thoroughly research laser vision correction
Make sure you are aware of the risks as well as the benefits of laser vision correction.
Talk with people who have had laser vision correction.
Make an appointment for a laser vision correction evaluation.
Make sure all your questions have been answered.
Do you have any questions?
Thank You!
